Woodmont Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Adult Education at Woodmont

If you enjoy the many opportunities a large church offers, but also want a place to plug into a small group setting, check out some of these groups at Woodmont:

Sunday School
Meeting at 9:30am or 11:00am, these classes offer a range of Bible study, standard curriculum, and topical discussion.

Challenge Class - 9:30 am - Room 200
This adult class discusses contemporary issues from a Christian perspective using a variety of formats including lecture / discussion, small group discussion, guest speakers, video lectures, and member reports.

Explorers - 9:30 am - Room 100
This is a small, sociable class (usually 6-10 folks each week) who feel free to get off of the week's topic! Jim Easter is the teacher, but others in the class also volunteer to teach or lead the discussions from time to time. The class often picks short portions of the book to read aloud in class, so that even if you have not read the book you will easily be able to participate in the class.

Friendship Class - 9:30 am - Room 143
This class follows the International Sunday Sunday-School Lessons, provided by Cokes bury (Methodist Publishing House). The presentation usually consists of a lecture by the teacher followed by an open discussion of the scripture and its applicability to our lives. The class consists mainly of seniors, but would be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age, interested in what the Bible is saying to us today.

Journey Through the Bible Class - 9:30 am - Room 107
This class surveys the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. It is Bible content intensive. Presentation is primarily by lecture, although there is some dialogue and occasional use of audio/visual. This class's uniqueness is found in the approach through: informed spiritual living in place of religious activity; a group encounter with the living God through the holy writ; a personal encounter with Jesus as Lord and living Word; and the Bible as God's living Word. All are welcome to attend.

Young Adults – 9:45 am -Boardroom
This class offers an open forum for in-depth reading and discussion of scripture. The class generally focuses on one book from the Bible or one topic of daily life at a time. During the month of September, this class will be taught by Ryan Motter and will meet at 9:30 am.

Discovery Class - 11:00 am - Room 100
This class explores a variety of subjects centered on enhancing each person's relationship with God using a stimulating blend of group dialogue and prayer.

Reflections Class - 11:00 am - Room 200
The Reflections Class is an issue-based class that thrives on discussion and group participation. With lively conversation and coffee, participants explore important questions of the Christian faith.
