A native of Lewisburg, TN, Michael came to Woodmont in May of 1986 as organist and assistant choir director. After his predecessor, Jim Jarrett, retired, he took over the planning of both the 9:30 and 11:00 A.M. services and the choir directing duties. He was a choral director and music theory teacher in Metro Public Schools for thirty years, spending the last half of his tenure at Nashville School of the Arts.

Michael's B.S. degree in education is from Trevecca University and his master's in organ performance is from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. Michael says, "Being at Woodmont has been a privilege and an honor, working with wonderful musicians and dedicated staff. I am thankful to God for placing me at Woodmont and allowing me to grow spiritually and as a musician. I am truly indebted to God and to the people of Woodmont who have loved me and my family over the years. I am also immensely grateful for the support of my family."
